Philosophy:  GAP SCIENCE will allow the students to experience science through real life
situations in a small environment where they can receive more assistance.  In this way they
can be successful and science will become more meaningful and relevant to their lives.

COURSE EMPHASIS

Throughout the entire course the students are encouraged to “think” like scientists by asking
questions and solving problems through experimentation.  We will take a look at how scientists
use new discoveries and observations to make changes to existing theories.

First Trimester:

Physics:  Physics is the study of matter and energy.  We will be studying the “how’s”
and “why’s” of moving objects, as well as the transmission of energy via waves.

Second Trimester:

Chemistry:  In chemistry we will learn about the structures and properties of matter.
We will also learn how one thing can turn into something else by molecular interactions
or exchanging energy.

Third Trimester:

Applied Physical Science:  Concepts that are learned during the first and second trimester
will be applied to concepts such as astronomy, meteorology, and climatology.
