Absences:
Attendance in this class is essential,
therefore absences must be kept to a minimum.
In the event of an absence, you’re make-up work will be due one school
day after the date of your return. If
you miss the day before a test (a review day), you will take the test as
regularly scheduled. If you miss the day
before a quiz, you have one full school day after you return to complete the
quiz. If you miss the day of a test or a
quiz, you must complete that quiz or test within one week from the date of the
test.
Grades:
-
The following equation will be used to determine
your percentage:
% = Points Earned/ Total Points
-
Grading Scale :
Traditional 90/80/70/60 will be used
Note: Percentages are rounded to the nearest whole
percentage.
Homework: Will
be checked regularly. If your homework
is complete, you will receive a “+” in the grade book. If your homework is not complete, you will
receive a “0” in the grade book. If, at
the end of the tri, you have 90% or more of your homework completed, your grade
will be raised by a third of a letter grade.
If, at the end of the tri, you have between 70 and 90% of the homework
completed, your grade will be unchanged.
If, at the end of the tri, you have less than 70% of the homework
completed, your grade will be lowered by a third of a letter grade.
Homework Grade Recovery System: If you fail to complete an assignment,
you have one school day to turn the assignment in and change the “0” to a
“+”. The late assignment must be turned
in by
Assignment Guide:
After every test you will be given an assignment guide that
will provide you with a list of assignments for the next unit.
Books and Book Covers: You will be issued a
book and a book cover. The book is to be
covered at all times. Failure to do so
will result in a book fine at the end of the year.
Passes: Passes
to the restroom, locker or drinking fountain are granted sparingly.
Calculators: You
will need a scientific calculator (TI-30 or higher) for this class.
Calculator Usage:
Calculators are not allowed on most quizzes and tests. However, you will need your calculator for
most assignments.
Expectations:
1. Be
in your seat when the bell rings, otherwise you will be counted tardy.
2. Have
all your materials ready (book, notebook, writing utensil, calculator). No passes will be given to retrieve these
items.
3. If
you want to address the class, raise your hand.
4. Grade
Discussion- I will give you a grade update three times a semester. This is the only time I will discuss grades
with you.
5.
Use class time productively.
