May 1, 2012

  • Eastern Iowa Professional Chapter of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers Scholarships.  Four $500 awards to seniors with interest in Science, Math and/or Engineering.  Requirements:  explanation of financial need, 2.5 gpa, recommendation, letter of acceptance to accredited school, transcript, two ½-page essays.  Deadline:  May 30, 2012.
  • Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards.  Educational grants in several categories to JUNIORS.  Requirements: JUNIOR, attend college in 2013 Fall semester; US citizenship or US permanent residency; of Hispanic/Latino descent (at least one parent), 3.0 gpa; willing to travel at own cost to awards ceremony in your selected region.  Information and applications available at:  www.HispanicHeritage.orgDeadline:  July 6, 2012.
  • Guild Scholar Scholarship.  12-16 awards of up to $15,000 each for current JUNIORS who are legally blind.  Requirements:  on-line application, proof of legal blindness, proof of US citizenship or legal residency, documentation of academic achievement, 3 letters of recommendation, 2 personal statements.  Applications available at:  www.jgb.org/guildscholar.aspReceipt deadline:  September 15, 2012.
  • Miss Iowa USA/Miss Iowa Teen USA.  Scholarships awarded.  If interested, information available in Guidance Office.  Deadline:  July 1, 2012.

April 18, 2012

  • Danielle Gross Memorial Scholarship.  $500 award to senior pursuing degree in cosmetology, esthiology, massage therapy or nail technology.  Applications available in Guidance Office or room 230 (Mr. Gross’ room).  Deadline:  May 1, 2012.

March 29, 2012

March 6, 2012

  • Brian Pearson Memorial Scholarship.  $1000 awards to one female and one male JUNIOR.  Criteria:  must have participated in Iowa Games events; character and volunteer work also emphasized.  Requires personal essay and two letters of recommendation.  Receipt deadline:  May 4, 2012.
  • Sigma Phi Epsilon – Balanced Man Scholarship – Iowa State University.  One $1000 and two $500 awards to males.  Criteria:  academic achievements, leadership skills, community service, extracurricular activities.  Deadline:  June 2, 2012.

February 21, 2012

  • Darryl Jahn Memorial Scholarship-Beta Sigma Psi Lutheran Fraternity-Iowa State University.  Three $1500 awards to Lutheran men entering ISU.  Criteria:  involvement in church activities, academic achievement, involvement and recognition for extracurricular activities, personal interview.  Applications available in Guidance Office and at:  http://epsilon.betasigmapsi.org/recruits/scholarship.php.  Three rounds of awards with deadlines of February 24, April 6 and May 31, 2012.

January 18, 2012

  • Robert D. Blue Scholarship.  Must attend IA college or university.  Criteria:  demonstrate literary and scholastic ability, exhibit qualities of truth, courage and fellowship, and display moral force of character.  Requires transcript, federal tax return, statement of awards/grants, names of two references, 500-word essay.  Scoring scale:  recommendations 10%, academic performance 20%, essay 25%, financial need 45%.  Applications available at:  www.rdblue.orgDeadline:  May 10, 2012.
  • Iowa PGA Charlie Burkart Scholarship.  $1000 renewable award.  Criteria:  interest and activity in golf and potential for future contributions to game is primary; secondary is academic ability and financial need.  Requires transcript, two recommendation, self-statement.  Deadline:  mail prior to June 15, 2012.
  • State of Iowa Scholarship and Grant Programs.  The state programs listed below can be applied for by completing the FAFSA.  Those with an asterisk(*) also require the Iowa Financial Aid Application.  Upon completion of the FAFSA, all Iowa resident applicants can link to the Iowa Financial Aid Application directly from their FAFSA confirmation page.  An overview of the programs is available on the Iowa College Aid website at:  www.iowacollegeaid.gov (click on Scholarships & Grants).

  • University of Iowa-Iowa Scholars Award.   $1000 award for IA residents w/27 ACT(1210 SAT) and 3.8 gpa or 30 ACT (1330 SAT) and 3.7 gpa.  Engineering@Iowa Scholars Award Above criteria, major in engineering.  Students automatically considered upon admission.
  • Northern Illinois University Out-of-State Huskie Scholarship.  Valued at $9200 per year; for students from Wisconsin, Iowa and Indiana.  Applications available at:  www.application.niu.edu.  Awarded on a rolling basis.
  • Abbott and Fenner Scholarship Program.  $1000 award.  Requires essay.  Information available at: http://www.abbottandfenner.com/scholarships.htm.  Deadline:  June 15, 2012.
  • NFIB Young Entrepreneur Award.  Qualified candidates must be operating a small business.  Information and online applications available at:  www.NFIB.com/YEA.

  • Pearl Hull Falk Scholarship.  70-80 awards of $400.  Requirements:  be of Protestant faith, resident of State of IA, full-time student at U-I; at least one must be member of an Episcopal Church, at least one a male who shows interest in and promise for a career in Banking.  Must include transcript, personal statement, letter of reference, FAFSA filed.  Applications available in Guidance Office.  Deadline:  May 1, 2012.
  • University of Dayton-Servant Leadership Video Contest.  3 winners (1st place $10,000 renewable award, 2nd place $6000, 3rd place $4000).  Information available at:  www.facebook.com/universityofdayton.
