The Trojan Epic is the
school's yearbook, whose purpose is to preserve events and experiences of the
year for the students at West High. The yearbook is produced electronically on
Macintosh computers using InDesign software. The Epic is an all-color,
spring-delivery yearbook
Students apply to be part of the Epic staff during the spring. A student should first complete the year-long prerequisite class, Introduction to Journalism: Yearbook, and earn a B average. A student with a strong background in journalism, photography, or graphic design may join the Epic staff without completing the introductory course, although this is rare.
Epic
staff members enroll in the Language Arts elective Yearbook Lab, which meets
daily during an assigned class hour. In addition to regular class meetings,
staff members are required to attend a weekly work session after school or in
the evening from mid-September until March 1. |
