CURRENT FIELD
The men’s and women’s West High teams use the field located at Northwest Junior High in Coralville.

• The field is shared with Northwest Junior High physical education classes, athletic teams, neighborhood youth teams, and Coralville’s Fourth of July celebration. The high level of use creates a hard, uneven surface.
• The poor condition of the field poses hazards that increase the risk of injury for our youngstudent-athletes.
• Poor drainage creates wet spots and worn turf that drastically affect not only the safety, but the quality of play.
• Players without a driver’s license must find their own transportation from West High to Northwest Junior High for “home” games and scrimmages.
• Seating is limited.
• Concessions are not available for spectators, which means there is a loss of potential revenue.
• There is no fixed position for ticket sales or a means to control fan access to the field, which also results in a loss of revenue from ticket sales.
• Access to restroom facilities is inadequate.

PROPOSED FIELD LOCATION
The proposed site will be located on the southwest quadrant of West High’s property. It will enhance student-athlete safety and convenience by removing the necessity to drive to Northwest Junior High for games.

• A uniform, high quality playing surface will reduce the risk of injury for student-athletes and help elevate the quality of play.
• Oversized field will allow the location of goalie boxes to be shifted, limiting the wear and tear on the playing surface.
• Proper tiling and sand-top dressing on the field will allow for rapid drainage during adverse conditions.
• The current concessions area and restrooms in the football stadium could be used to support soccer events.
• A fixed ticket booth, controlled access for fans, and concessions sales will increase revenue for soccer events.
• The potential to add lights to the facility opens the door to increased attendance and evening events.
