Pages within the ICCSD web site www.iccsd.k12.ia.us are created and maintained to provide information, resources, and links of interest to the students, staff, and patrons of the Iowa City Community School District. All pages created within the ICCSD web site will be directly related to ICCSD curricula, district programs, or events of recognized groups within the ICCSD. Links to sites outside the ICCSD web site will be to sites that have a direct connection to ICCSD curricula, programs or recognized student groups, or have a meaningful connection to the communities that encompass the ICCSD.
All policy relating to the ICCSD web site will conform to existing ICCSD Board of Directors policies and administrative regulations. In the event of concerns not covered by Board policies/administrative regulations, the ICCSD Technology Council will create policy regulations.
A person with the responsibility of maintaining the ICCSD web site will be designated with the title of District Webmaster. The Webmaster will report regularly to the ICCSD Technology Council on matters relating to the ICCSD web site.
The District Webmaster duties shall include:
At least twice yearly the District Webmaster will review all pages on the ICCSD web site for accuracy and currency. In the event that the Webmaster deems a page to be in need of editing s/he will contact the appropriate Building Webmaster and ask them to edit or revise the page. If the content of a page is no longer current, it will be removed. In the event that server space becomes limited, pages of student work that is older than the previous school year shall be removed first.
While there may be many individuals and groups within a school who contribute pages to the school’s site, it is important that there be one person who acts as the Building Webmaster. Each school building that wishes to have a web site should identify one staff member in the building who will have primary responsibility for maintaining the school’s site. This person should be appointed by the building’s principal and building technology committee and should report to them. The Building Webmaster will verify the accuracy of all content, edit and test all pages for accuracy of links and check for conformance with the standards for site design as published by the ICCSD Technology Council.
Staff members wishing to create/maintain web pages within their school site will attend a training session with the District Webmaster. If students will be working with staff members they will also attend that training session.
