American School Counselor Association is the national organization that represents the profession of school counseling. ASCA focuses on providing professional development, enhancing school counseling programs, and researching effective school counseling practices. Education Trust was established by the American Association for Higher Education as a special project to encourage colleges and universities to support k-12 reform efforts. Education Trust is sponsoring the National Initiative for Transforming School Counseling. The project focuses on changing university school counselor preparation programs to prepare counselors to serve as student advocates and academic advisors.
