students' understanding of mathematical concepts. Experiences with manipulative,

ideas. Students should be involved in activities which require the choice
of using estimation, mental computation, or paper/pencil to arrive at
a solution. Problem solving will be an integral part of the students'
mathematical experiences.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: Pre-Algebra 7 is for those students who have already
demonstrated the ability to accurately compute with whole numbers, fractions
and decimals, and their problem solving skills are highly developed. This
is an accelerated math course which, upon successful completion, will prepare
the student for the study of algebra.

problems related to the real world. Students will become familiar with using
graphing tools to visualize mathematical relationships. Purchase of a scientific
calculator by each student is strongly recommended.
