The
NLFRC is designed to help ALL families living in the North Liberty area and is
housed at Garner, Penn, and Van Allen Elementary schools. All programs and services of the North
Liberty Family Resource Center are FREE of charge.
PROGRAMS AND SERVICES:

Family support is available to anyone seeking strategies on
family issues including but not limited to: divorce, sibling rivalry, stress
management, budgeting, behavior management, problem solving in crisis
situations, child development information and more.
¤
L.I.F.T (Learning Includes Family Ties) is a voluntary family
support program. An NLFRC team member will meet with your family at a minimum of
twice a month to work on school-related and family-related goals that are
identified.
¤
Student Support Team (SST) is a group of staff
organized to provide various types of support services and referrals for school
age children. An NLFRC staff member is a part of this team.
¤
The Tutoring program is for students in 3rd
- 6th grade. Students are matched for 9 weeks in a 1 on 1
setting. Classroom teachers refer
students to this program.
¤
Parent lending libraries are located at all NLFRCs
and you will find books and DVDs on a variety of topics.
¤
Referrals and Assistance to Community Resources are available through the
NLFRC staff. Staff can connect you
with appropriate resources and can also help with registration or completion of
applications. Examples may include
but are not limited to:
food/clothing resources, FIP/Food Stamps, heating assistance, W.I.C.,
holiday resources, HAWK-I, and child care resources.

Parent University is an annual event
designed to increase knowledge on parent selected topics. The NLFRC staff and school counselors
collaborate to provide speakers, snacks and child care for the event.

Family
to Family is a program that connects families in need of items with
families who donate items.
¤
The Supply Pantry is located at the Penn
Elementary NLFRC. Various items including, personal hygiene products, and
school supplies are available by appointment.
¤
Transportation may be provided on
occasion, to families who have no other means to get to an important
appointment.
¤
Empowerment Family Support is a program available for
families who are pregnant and/or have children ages birth to Pre-K. This home
visiting program offers but is not limited to the following: fostering
parent-child relationships, school readiness, help locating childcare, health
care, assessing developmental stages and playgroups. This is the only NLFRC
program that is income based. Parents As Teachers (PAT) may
be available for those families over income.
HOW CAN YOU
SUPPORT THE NLFRC?
á Donate paper products, cleaning
supplies, hygiene supplies, and/or school supplies to our supply pantry.
á Donate your used clothing
to Stuff, Etc. in Coralville (account number 6941).
á Volunteer your time to the
after school tutoring or other NLFRC activities.
á Provide a monetary
donation for the NLFRCÕs programs.
á Call Shelli at

email, or call with your gently used household items to donate.
