1st Grade Math
Ms. Moon works with the 1st grade math students to develop number and numeration concepts, operations and computation skills, understanding of data and chance, learning to use tools for measurement focusing on clocks, calendars, timelines, money, and thermometers, exploring geometry, attribute patterns, sequences, relations, and functions. The children work in large group, small groups and partners to develop their problem-solving skills and basic math concepts.
Mrs. Neuzil works with the 2nd grader’s to develop math skills focusing on number concepts and relationships, 2-D and 3-D geometry, fractions, one-digit and two-digit addition and subtraction, measurement, telling time, counting money, and data collection and graphing. Many opportunities are provided for cooperative learning among children of varying abilities. A wide variety of problem-solving strategies are modeled, practiced, and encouraged.
