Music classes for
5th and 6th
graders will focus on the following goals:
- Experience harmony through 2
& 3 part singing
- Identify instruments of the
brass family
- Use Orff instruments to create
harmony, and perform many multi-cultural musical selections
- Perform a line dance, square
dance , and many folk dances
- Identify members of the
percussion family
- Identify all dynamic markings
including ppp, pp, p, mp, mf, f, ff, and fff
- Add sign language to
singing
- Identify and perform complex
rhythm patterns, using sixteenth notes, syncopation, and tied note
patterns.
- Study various styles of music,
including classical, blues, and folk.
- Study composers, including
Beethoven and Mozart.
- Identify pitches on the bass
staff/clef
