Science
This year we are studying Pebbles, Sand and Silt, Living Things, and Balls and Ramps. Living things is a life science unit, Pebbles, Sand and Silt is an earth science unit, and Balls and Ramps is a physical science unit. Children are encouraged to develop a natural curiosity about the world around them. They learn to make scientific observations and record their observations in various formats.
Social Studies
Our social studies theme for the year is “My School and Family”. This curriculum focuses on getting along in school, learning from each other, the purpose of rules, and people who help us at school (teacher, principal, secretary, and custodian). We also learn about basic map skills, schools of long ago, groups we belong to, what makes families special, needs and wants of families, ways family members care for each other, family traditions, and neighbors.
