CELEBRATE AMERICA Essay Winner
5th grade student at Hills Elementary, Aldo C., won 1st place for Iowa/Nebraska in an essay contest sponsored by the American Immigration Council. Aldo and his 5th grade classmates were invited to compete by Laz Pittman, local Immigration Lawyer and Hills Elementary parent. The essay was titled “Celebrate America” and explores the US as a nation of immigrants. Aldo won a $100 prize and his essay will continue on to the national round of the contest to compete against 14 other students across the nation. The winner of the national round will receive a trip to California.

The 2nd and 3rd place winners all received cash prizes. The 1st place winners received a cash prize and were invited to a special dinner and asked to read their essays at the Town & Country’s April meeting. Congratulations to all who participated.
