Data Collection

The folks at Mississippi Bend AEA have developed an Excel database for collecting and sharing the type of library program data needed for the annual State Survey of School Library Programs.

The AEA folks are doing a statewide ICN workshop on Tuesday, November 17 from 3:30 to 5:00.  One of the reserved ICN sites is the ICN room at the Iowa City Public Library.

Three primary sources were used in the development of the tool:
    • State Library Annual Survey
    • Iowa School Library Program Guidelines
    • AASL Standards for the 21st Century

The data collected with this tool could be used for reports to your administrator, school board, PTA/PTO groups, and other school stakeholders and community members. The charts and graphs generated by the data you input into the spreadsheet can be inserted into a slides for a presentation, or a written document.  In other words, evidence for library advocacy!
